FAQ: Sharing and teams
For step-by-step instructions, see Share a project and invite a teammate.
What is the difference between a teammate and a collaborator I share with?
Section titled “What is the difference between a teammate and a collaborator I share with?”A teammate is a member of your workspace. On a Team plan, everyone in the workspace sees everything the lab has done, according to their role.
A collaborator keeps their own workspace. You share one project with them, and they see only that project.
Who owns the data in a team workspace?
Section titled “Who owns the data in a team workspace?”The workspace does, not any one person. If a member leaves, their work stays with the workspace. The audit trail still records who did what.
What can each role do?
Section titled “What can each role do?”- Owner and admin: manage members and billing, change workspace settings, and everything a member can do.
- Member: upload data, prepare it and run analyses.
- Viewer: read results only.
A role change takes effect on the person’s next request.
How many people can a team have?
Section titled “How many people can a team have?”A Team plan has from 3 to 25 seats; for more, contact us. Free and Pro are for one person. A pending invite takes a seat until it is accepted or revoked.
When I share a project, does my data move?
Section titled “When I share a project, does my data move?”No. The data, the results of runs your collaborator makes, and the audit trail all stay in your workspace. Your collaborator reaches them through the share, and loses access the moment you revoke it.
What can a collaborator do with a shared project?
Section titled “What can a collaborator do with a shared project?”With Can view, they can open the project’s datasets, runs, results and reports, and download exports. With Can view & run, they can also run analyses on the project’s datasets. They cannot rename, re-file or delete anything, change the research context, share the project onward, or see anything else in your workspace.
Whose plan pays when a collaborator runs an analysis?
Section titled “Whose plan pays when a collaborator runs an analysis?”Their runs and AI use count against their own plan. The results are stored in your workspace, so they count toward your storage.
Do I need a paid plan to share?
Section titled “Do I need a paid plan to share?”To share a project or create a report share link, yes. To receive a shared project, no - a Free account can view it and, with Can view & run, run analyses in it.
What does a report share link show?
Section titled “What does a report share link show?”A read-only snapshot of one report - its text and the locked statistics - to anyone with the link, without signing in. It never exposes the dataset and never lets anyone re-run anything. Links expire automatically and can be revoked early.
Where do I see everything I have shared?
Section titled “Where do I see everything I have shared?”Settings > Sharing lists every project and report link your workspace has shared and everything shared with you. You can revoke access from there, and you can leave a project someone shared with you.
